All active HAHA volunteers join one or more of the organization's committees, which are in charge of the various ongoing programs or one-time events. Volunteers choose to work on whatever suits their talents and interests.
Of course many of the activities of these committees overlap, and all of them are dependent on the others in some way, so all committee volunteers collaborate and coordinate with each other. Reports from each committee are made at the monthly member meetings, so that we all have an overview of HAHA's progress.
Here is a list of the current committees and a brief explanation of what each does.
Grants Committee Members of the Grants Committee research and apply for grants of all kinds (large and small; for renovations, needed equipment, training, and special events). The members of this committee make sure the grant requirements are met before, during, and after the grant period.
Long-Range Finance Committee This committee is looking at HAHA's long-term goals and fundraising needs and how to meet them.
Missing-in-Action (Membership) Committee We're always glad to welcome new members, but we also want to stay in touch with those of you who have come to events or meetings; who have donated time and talents; or have added to our museum collections.
Building Committee This committee conducts and coordinates the research and planning as we consult with experts on how best to repair our elderly structure and decide on the most suitable design for our long-range goals. The committee members also conduct, coordinate, and supervise the hands-on work as we carry out the repairs and renovations with volunteer labor or, at times, local construction companies.
Curatorial / Collections Committee This committee coordinates and makes decisions on the intake, inventory, archiving, and eventual display of items at the HAHA Museum.
Arts Committee The Arts Committee is working on promoting the visual, written, and performing arts in the Hermosa region. We would especially like to involve our local youth, local artists and artisans, and the Native community.
Garden Committee Members of the Garden Committee beautify the Museum grounds and tend the Doug Hesnard Memorial Garden. Now that the museum's exterior work is finished, more permanent landscaping and plantings are being planned, along with an irrigation system.
Thank-You Committee This committee makes sure that those who help us or donate to HAHA receive the gratitude and recognition they deserve.
Promotion Committee The Promotions Committee members publicize HAHA's events, and keep people updated on HAHA's progress and programs through this website, Facebook, and other media.
Short-term Events Committees Volunteers form short-term committees to work on upcoming HAHA events. We host annual events such as the Saturday Nights fundraiser (music, food, and other entertainment) and the Christmas Carnival (with games for kids, food, and a crafts fair). But we also hold other special events, suggested by members and agreed to at HAHA meetings. See our Events page on this website for a look at past and upcoming events.

New HAHA members are welcome! Please come to a monthly member meeting if you are interested in becoming a HAHA volunteer and would like to help with any of our committees, programs, or events.
HAHA offers you the opportunity to provide community service while preserving and promoting our local history and the arts, and will give you satisfaction, fellowship, and fun in return. Our HAHA acronym was chosen on purpose.
