Hermosa Arts & History Association is now hiring a Museum Operations Coordinator for the summer of 2025.
Position: Museum Operations Coordinator Hours: 16 hours per week Pay: $20/hour (W-2 employee), laptop provided Duration: 13 weeks (First weekend in June until Labor Day)
Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Visitor Services & Museum Operations Coordinator. This role is ideal for teachers or students looking for a summer position, as it offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to engage with the community.
Key Responsibilities
Visitor Services: Welcome guests, provide information, and ensure a positive visitor experience.
Archiving: Utilize PastPerfect software to archive the museum's collection.
Community Engagement: Help represent the museum at the Custer County Fair and assist with fundraising events such as the Summer Rummage Sale and Branding Party.
Marketing: Develop and implement creative marketing ideas to increase museum visibility. Create and manage an Instagram account and reach out to schools and local tourist offices.
Community Integration: Work to establish the museum as a vital part of the local community.
Museum Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the museum and ensure the front and inside of the building are presentable for patrons. For example: Taking out the trash, cleaning restrooms, watering plants and sweeping the front porch and walkways.
Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience in customer service or visitor services.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with social media platforms and marketing strategies.
Experience with PastPerfect software is a plus.
Passion for history, education, and community engagement.
Not a necessity, but a plus!
Program Development: Develop and execute programs for children to enhance their museum experience.
Grant Research: Research and identify potential grants for museum remodeling projects.
Guided Tours: Lead tours and create a docent program.
